Deutschland nostalgia

I've been getting terribly nostalgic lately after realizing it was a year ago today that I got on a plane to study in Germany. Thinking back, the academic aspects really weren't ideal, and most of the people in my program were annoying but I really had a wonderful time. I don't think I fully appreciated being in Germany while I was over there; there are a ton of things I didn't get to do. Anyone want to go back?

A little tribute..

My home for 5 months.

Hauptstrasse on a rainy day

The Römerberg in Frankfurt

Mirabell Gardens in Salzburg

Part of the huge pleasure gardens at Schwetzingen

Krämerbrücke, my favorite spot in Erfurt, maybe my favorite city in Germany - a bridge, covered with apartments and shops since the 15th century

The Wartburg near Eisenach

The main square in Brugge, Belgium

A canal outside of Brugge

Twilight in Heidelberg

sigh.

Glitter and Be Gay

I went through my archives just now and realized how many posts I spend complaining about lack of sleep. I'll try to avoid that, although I make no guarantees with an 8:30 am class this semester.

It was only a little over a week ago that interterm was ending and my sister came for new year's but this past week, the first week of classes, felt like forever. It may have something to do with the fact that we had rehearsals/performances for Candide every night. Playing in the pit for the musical was kind of fun though, I guess i'm glad I did it despite the fact that it probably re-affirmed my distaste for the whole genre. I'm glad I did it this year and not past years since Bernstein is at least a halfway decent composer; otherwise I might have killed myself. Anyway, its a relief to have that behind me and be able to really settle down to work (at least until Mahler gets into full swing).

Every night at about 3 am for the past few days I've started panicking about finding a job. i really should get on that.

For your amusement:
