All's quiet

another boring update.

I was reading through some of my old entries and I realized how incredibly boring my entries are. I feel like I should apologize for it, but then again, you don't need to read this, do you? So, here i go.

Not much (surprise!) going on. this weekend was this first weekend I haven't had to go in to work this month. It's actually not so bad going in on weekends; I get some OT, but it's a little frustrating when you realize you've been in lab every day for several weeks, even if I'm only in for a few hours on Sat and/or Sun. Also making me wake up early is not pleasant. At any rate, I spent my weekend off well with much drunkenness and karaoke (which, despite the drunkenness, didn't involve me singing). Pictures of some of the debauchery, an unfortunate number of which can be seen on facebook, were taken by my friends.

Going in for my initial physical with my doctor on thurs. I'm a little scared, I'm getting a cholesterol test done for the first time in like 5 years. My cholesterol was high then and that was when I actually exercised and (probably) ate better. That test also gave me a huge bruise running up my vein. Also I stupidly scheduled it for the afternoon, which means I can't eat all day. Is it horrible that I'm thinking about celebrating afterwards by eating a burger or something? Damn you, you delicious yet incontrovertibly unhealthy food! why do you have to be so tasty...

Also, to Amherst, that was just a brilliant move to decide to issue new passwords to all the alumni for planworld and the alumni site and cut us off from all those things before actually sending the password. Thanks. Awesome.

Immune system disaster

Okay, that's a bit of an overstatement, but for the first time in many many moons (since I was in Germany I think) that i've gotten sick. Sore throat, fever, chills and body aches, yuck! Even better is the fact that in my infinite wisdom, I hadn't chosen a primary care physician at any point in the six months that i've been in Boston. I'm going to try calling someone up tomorrow and see if I can't get them to both take me on as a new patient right away and treat me.

Ah my jealousy for Jennie's new job at google grows; if I worked there then I could just see a doctor on site. The irony of google providing doctors but my workplace, a HOSPITAL in a network of many other hospitals, doing no such thing is overwhelming. I don't need Google, i have..various rodents in my workplace. Yeah. To which I've started to develop an allergy, damnit! (When I went into the lab htis weekend, I sneezed up a storm while in the animal facility)

Speaking of Jennie, I drove down to New York for new year's to (doubly) surprise her at a surprise going away party. Considering how badly surprise parties usually go, this one went off splendidly. Just look at that face:

So the holidays were fun, even though going back and forth to new york twice in a week is a little tiring but i'm glad I did it. I miss my lovely new yorkers!
